About
A Little History On TremTrue:
The modern electric guitar has a few heroes: Les Paul, Leo Fender and perhaps most notably Paul Bigsby. It is well documented that the original Fender guitars were simply copies of Bigsby’s. Paul Bigsby is the creator of the first really usable tremolo system, basically unchanged since 1951.
I love Bigsby tremolos!…..but
Some of the greatest guitar music, even entire genres would not exist without the Bigsby tremolo. I have them on at least 20 of my guitars. The simple truth is I never use any of my Bigsby equipped guitars on stage because of the tuning problems and my absolute horror and fear at the prospect of replacing a broken string! There are enough pages on the web on the subject so we will just move on.
The TremTrue tremolo story:
I was so frustrated with the problems and the failure of every so called “solution” to solve them that I decided to get down to brass tacks and analyze just what the hell was really going on. If you are interested you can read the patent application. (If you just want to stop screwing around and enjoy using your tremolo without giving it a second thought you can read on.) After making the first several models in my machine shop in Sarasota, modifying and improving as I went along, I arrived at the final design of the TremTrue tremolo system: perfect string alignment throughout the movement of the tremolo arm, increased sustain, ultra precise control of the tremolo and quick, effortless string replacement in a matter of seconds. Due to our improved design we are able to maintain perfect tuning through a much wider range of motion than a Bigsby, allowing a taller spring to be used. This gives a true “dive bombing” ability not possible with a Bigsby tremolo.
